Bourjois carries its noble name from the glamour of France. The brand’s history dates back to 1863 at the time of the boom of interesting and aristocratic theatre plays.  For theatrical purposes, actor Joseph Albert Ponsin designed practical makeup foundations and other beauty necessities. His act turned into a small business which was later taken over by Alexandre-Napoleon Bourjois who gave the worldwide brand his name in 1968. Since 1982, the brand has been sold all over the world as its original production of makeup has expanded into a variety of beauty products.
