Carven perfumes | Carven – an icon among perfumes. Carven is a French haute-couture brand focusing on clothing, shoes, fashion accessories, and – last but not least – on perfumes. In its discipline Carven belongs among true icons, and already the first perfume by this fashion brand called Ma Griffe became one of the greatest classics like Channel No. 5.

The Carven brand was established in 1945 in Paris by Carmen de Tommasso with the idea to design clothing for shorter women. She was inspired by being not tall herself and by the fact no clothes women of similar height or clothes making them look taller were available. Therefore, she abandoned her studies of interior design and architecture and always full of energy switched to fashion design.

Carmen soon filled in the market niche also by clothing for young women who were neglected by designers at the time. The Carven brand quickly became very successful and Carmen gradually expanded. Later, the management was taken over by Guillaume Henry who had used to work for Givenchy; he brought new energy and made the clothing more affordable.

The elegant and very feminine design by Carven, inspired by traveling and arts, applies also to its perfumes. The already mentioned Ma Griffe for women was created in 1946 by Jean Carles, and it remained extremely popular for over 60 years. Vetiver, the first perfume for men, was created in 1957 by Edouard Hache, and it still belongs among the most popular perfumes.

The brand has produced almost twenty perfumes for both women and men, and besides the already mentioned designers respected Francis Kurkdjian also participated in their development. The perfumes by Carven guarantee the best quality and a refined style.
