Clinique perfumes and cosmetics first appeared on the market in 1968.  The brand’s founder, Estee Lauder (whose father came from the Czech Republic), read an interview with dermatologist Norman Orentreich in Vogue, and was inspired to create a first-class hypoallergenic cosmetic line for all skin types.  Clinique produced non-scented, properly tested products such as anti-wrinkle creams, cleansing toners and liquid soaps.

Each product has been tested twelve times on 600 people.  If there is even one allergic reaction out of 7200 applications, the product development has to restart from the very beginning.  Clinique Laboratories has also designed a special 3-step system to reach beautiful, clean skin.  The steps are: cleansing, exfoliation and hydration.  Exfoliation is especially important because it helps remove dead cells.

Clinique also produces makeup, mascaras, concealers, eye pencils, powders, perfumes and more.  The first fragrance, named Aromatics Elixir, is aimed at those who suffer from skin allergies.  Thus, it was met with great success and is still produced. Clinique Medical is a treatment series which is specially designed for pre/post operation skin and developed in cooperation with Allergan, an American pharmaceutical company.  It is available exclusively in doctor’s offices. Clinique is an attractive choice for those who suffer from allergies, desire a youthful appearance, and are in the market for quality makeup for a reasonable price.
